The Weekend

... but first, here's that Yoda costume.

On Saturday we took the boys and one friend each to the Ontario Science Centre. The Centre is now more kid-friendly with the new Kidspark and Science Arcade. I didn't take any photos because I had enough to carry around without hauling the camera too. I did take my knitting, and managed to make this strap-cover for my purse. No more nylon strap cutting into my neck - yay!

After that, we had a surprise visitor, RG. He's a fellow aikidoka who also takes judo. The boys love him because he is one of the few visitors who will play video games with them. The spouse and I love him because he is one of the few visitors who will play video games with them. :-)

Here are more views of the yard.

The birds are getting bigger. In another week they'll leave the nest for sure.

This is not what it appears to be. It's actually a hexagonal patio stone that I painted to look like a raccoon. You can see the edge of the stone in the photo. The raccoon is tucked under our little conifer at the front of the house.

In the furthest reaches of the back yard where we keep the wheelbarrow and other big gardening stuff, some flowers have sprung up this year. At least, I hope they're flowers and not weeds. By weeds I mean plants that may be pretty, and may be useful, but are definitely invasive and will aggressively overtake other plants around it. I call these ones my WTF plants as I have no clue what they are and whether I should let them be or pluck them out.

Here's a close-up.

We had an antfestation on Sunday (an infestation of ants). Battling that took up most of the morning. Then we went to the in-laws' place to help them out and run errands because they are both quite sick. Happily, it was hot and the pool was open, so we had our first swim of the season.
