My Own Pattern: Lace Scarf

I hated making the Flower Basket Shawl, and swore I'd never knit lace again. Problem was, I had almost a full ball of Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool left, so I searched for an easy lace pattern to make a scarf to use up the yarn. It turned out that I don't dislike knitting lace after all - I just needed to start with a simpler lace pattern.

Materials:
1 skein Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool
3.75 mm needles, or size to get gauge of 4 sts to the inch (blocked)
Needle for weaving in loose ends

Note: This scarf has a 3-stitch garter stitch border on each side.

Cast on 29 sts.
Knit 5 rows of garter stitch.
Row 1 (and all WS rows): k3, p across to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 2: k3, (k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k1) twice, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k3.
Row 4: (k5, yo, sl-k2tog-psso, yo) three times.
Repeat rows 1-4 for desired length, then knit 5 rows of garter stitch.
Weave in all ends and block.

The pattern is an 8-stitch repeat, with the last stitch omitted in the last repeat, i.e. for the last repeat, work only to the red line. This chart does not include the 3-stitch garter stitch border.
