My Own Pattern III: Heart-Shaped Pillow

I had some red yarn left from the Chicken sweater and it was Valentine's Day, so I whipped up this heart-shaped pillow. You could make this pillow in a soft pastel colour, then embroider on a sentiment for a candy-heart vibe.

Materials:
worsted weight yarn
5.0 mm dpns
4 stitch markers
stitch holder
stuffing
needle for seaming

Behold, my crappy grafting skills!

Note: this pillow has a 4-stitch edge which is the width of the pillow.

Cast on 12 sts on dpns.

Row 1: k2, pm, k4, pm, k2, pm, k4, pm (12 sts)
Row 2: kfb, kfb, slm, k4, slm, kfb, kfb, slm, k4, slm (16 sts)
Row 3: k all sts (16 sts)
Row 4: kfb, k2, kfb, slm, k4, slm, kfb, k2, kfb, slm, k4, slm (20 sts)
Row 5: k all sts (20 sts)
Row 6: kfb, k4, kfb, slm, k4, slm, kfb, k4, kfb, slm, k4, slm (24 sts)
Row 7: k all sts (24 sts)

Continue in this way, increasing 1 stitch on each side of the front and back sections, and knitting the 4 edge stitches between each set of markers, until the front and back sections have 20 sts each (48 sts).

Knit 10 rows even (48 sts).

Next row: k10, k24 plus markers to stitch-holder, k10, slm, k4, slm (24 sts on needles).

Next row: k10, pm, cast on 4 sts, pm, k10, slm, k4, slm (28 sts)
Next row: ssk, k6, k2tog, slm, k4, slm, ssk, k6, k2tog, slm, k4, slm (24 sts)

Next row: ssk, rm (remove marker), k4, rm, ssk, rm, k4, rm (10 sts)
Next row: ssk, k4, ssk, k4 (8 sts)
Cut yarn and graft these 8 sts together.

Stuff the pillow.

Place sts from stitch-holder onto the needles, and repeat from *** for other lobe.

Add more stuffing, and seam the hole between the lobes, and the one at the bottom of the pillow.
