Canada Day
RG is staying with us this weekend while his girlfriend is in Ottawa visiting her family. Having RG as a house guest is like having a university-age son around (well, if that son went to grad school for many years). He's like a much older brother to the boys, or else a much younger brother to us.
We went out earlier to get firecrackers. What you're looking at here is eighty-three dollars worth. Dig the Star Wars rocket!

As almost all the shops are closed on July 1, it was a good day to visit the Pacific Mall. I bought these goodies at One's, the big Japanese department store. The cute pad is from the Cookietong company. The origami rose kit is from Korea, and the Pingu magnetic bookmark shows the penguin juggling balls of yarn!

Speaking of yarn, in knitting news, I finished the puppy mittens...

... and have opened the yummy "cupcake" yarn to make a stole, really a thick scarf that I'll be able to use as a wrap.

Guess who came over after dinner to watch movies and see the firecrackers go off? It's MG and HG, the sisters from my old yoshinkan dojo.

Of course we're watching South Park the Movie: Bigger, Longer, Uncut. The main plotline of the States declaring war on Canada is perfect for Canada Day.
