More Books

Well, I bought more books. I couldn't walk past the Beguiling booth on the exhibit floor without having a look, and as it happened, Chris Butcher was there. I got more of Japanese-American Adrian Tomine's collected works, and asked Chris if there were any other Asian-American graphic novelists I should be aware of. Of course, he had a whole list. I collect Asian-American writings, especially earlier stuff from authors like Jade Snow Wong and Maxine Hong Kingston, and once saw Frank Chin (Frank Chin!) at Johns Hopkins, so I'm keenly interested in this genre. I only wish there were more women artists in this field, but - ehh, what can you do.

I finally finished the (awful) Flower Basket Shawl - here it is blocking, stretched thin like some kind of animal skin - and can conclude that I will never knit lace again. Unlike other kinds of knitting, you must create lace absolutely perfectly, as every mistake shows. Either that, or you must like ripping back and re-knitting a whole lot.

It was my younger son's birthday this weekend, so there are birthday party pictures. I'll post those if I ever get around to downloading the pics from the camera. Unfortunately all the photos are on a chip with more than 70 pictures, so I'd have to transfer the whole mess to get to the 8 or so from the party... maybe some other night.
