Last Day Before School

I recycled another sweater into a pillow, this time, a bunny.

I also recycled the spouse's old shirt into a small terrier. I'm not entirely happy with it. The thick cotton material didn't have the right drape or stretch, so the real thing looks more homemade than it appears in this photo. The pattern is from a Japanese craft book.

It's the last day before school starts. The boys are making the most of it by doing their favourite things: the older one plays video games in the basement...

... and the younger one lies down and daydreams, sometimes chatting or singing to himself.

For those who haven't met him, yes, it really is his favourite thing to do. He must have some imagination, because he comes up with the oddest ideas. For example, today he announced that he had figured out how his father could retire early. We would hunt down "a live snowman", then charge people to see it. I told him it wouldn't work because it would require sleds, provisions, and men, and where would we get the money to secure all that. He left with a thoughtful look, but later declared that any snowmen we might capture, "may be not-alive" so perhaps not worth pursuing.
