Happy, Happy Anniversary!

This Friday will be our tenth anniversary. It says something about our marriage - although I'm not exactly sure what - that we're celebrating by buying new living room furniture. I'm absolutely thrilled about it. The stuff we have now is from the hubby's bachelor days, in a style I can only describe as sweaty, single-guy geekiness. The new stuff doesn't arrive for a few weeks, so I don't have an image to post, but instead of photographing the existing lumpy roll-out couch and - sigh - La-Z-Boy (which he's still trying to convince me we need to keep), here are some photos of us in our youth.

Oh wait, I do have a photo of that couch. This was taken when I met the hubby eleven years ago. The doilies were placed there by his mum, in an effort to gussy up the place I guess.

I emphasize that this was me more than a decade ago - for a recent picture, see this entry.

In knitting news, these are eggs which I made up as I went along. The pattern relies heavily on Jess Hutchison's "Henry Bear" design, which I blogged about previously.

I'd been expecting a few parcels in the mail for a few weeks, but day after day I'd come home to nothing. Then, between Friday and today: 7 packages. These are the 4 that arrived on Friday.

1) A bag I bought from Queen Bee,
2) Kids Knitting from a book swap,
3) a soap shaped like a full-sized steak, also from a swap, and
4) two manga about Hiroshima which I got from one of my favourite stores, the Beguiling.

Here's a close-up of the cranberry-scented handmade steak soap, from crafter KL.

She also sent these two meat-themed soaps.

In the package were two tiny sculpted clay magnets which looked like a steak and sliced Spam, but the photos came out too blurry to post here.

This is the fifth parcel which arrived Monday: a lined bag and flower brooch from a squid-themed craft swap.

Swap partner JR added some cephalopod stickers and other novelties, and these wonderful hand-drawn blank cards.

I got these two swap parcels on Tuesday and Wednesday: meat-themed cards and magnets from KC, and a stuffed monster from NT.
