Llama Purse

The finished object (more or less - I'm still knitting the strap).

The pattern is from the book, Andean Folk Knits. I used one skein of Patons Classic Merino in natural blend, and a few oddments. The wool felts quickly and beautifully - the fabric becomes very thick and soft. The pattern is a delight to knit. It is constructed entirely in the round, with absolutely no seams. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the author wrote the pattern as I would have, completing the head as soon as possible to give the knitter encouragement to finish the piece. I didn't deviate much from the written instructions, which is unusual for me, but there was just no way to "improve" on the pattern to match my tastes better.

This is the picture from the book.

Here it is before fulling.

Note the size.

Post-fulling.

It was such fun to knit that I've already chosen my next projects from the book, this fish purse, and this campesino bag.
